The Children’s Discovery Center at the Mt. Pleasant Public Library is open from 10:00am – 12:00pm this morning!  The Discovery Center is geared toward younger children, but there is something to “discover for all ages!  Look for the Discovery Center sign on the side of the Mt. Pleasant Library and follow the colorful sidewalk!

Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center Auxiliary will host The Nutman Company fundraising events at the Fort Madison campus from 8:00am-2:00pm. The Nutman Company features over 200 fine-quality nuts, chocolates, snack mixes, and candies for sale with a percent of profits being donated back to the SEIRMC Auxiliary.  The public is welcome to participate in the sale.  Credit cards and cash will be accepted.

The Donnellson Library has toddler time at 10am and a snake man’s reptile show at 2pm. They will offer more activities everyday at 2pm, reading hour at 10am on Tuesdays, and Toddler Time at 10:00am on Thursdays through the rest of June and the month of July too!

Relay for Life team, No One Walks Alone, is collecting donations for items to sell at their garage sale from 12pm-5pm at the Salem Shelter House. They will not accept TVs or computers. The actual garage and bake sale is on Friday, June 14 from 8am-5pm and Saturday, June 15 from 8am-1pm at the Shelter House to raise money for The American Cancer Society.

Come to the Annual Review Course for Diabetes Education from 1pm-3pm in Suite 25 at the Henry County Health Center! This is part of a program with two other sessions: a Continuous Glucose Monitoring Support Group on June 20 from 2pm-3pm and a Diabetes Group Class on June 24 from 8:30am-2:30pm in the same location. You must register for the Diabetes Group Class by calling 319-385-6518 by Friday, June 21. There is a fee, but many insurance plans cover this course. The purpose of these courses is to provide people who have diabetes and their families the latest information regarding the disease and to help them become aware that diabetes education is a lifelong process. For more information on any of these events, please call the same number as the registration.

Join to Preserve the Taste of Summer: Jam Making and Dehydrating workshop! The workshop is at the Learning Center, 1100 N. Main, Donnellson from 5:30pm-9:00pm with a light meal provided. This is a FREE class for Lee County residents, however, registration is required. Call 319-835-5116 to get registered! Spots are limited, so call today! The cost for non-Lee County residents is $40 per person and must be paid before the registration deadline by registering online at https://go.iastate.edu/8ICAIH.

*CHANGE OF VENUE* The Mt. Pleasant Community Band, under the direction of Middle School Band Director Adam Creager, will perform tonight at 7:00 in Calvary Baptist Church Multipurpose room.  There are four performances scheduled this summer with rehearsals for each performance on Tuesday at 7:00pm in the MP Middle School Music Room.  Contact Adam for  more information; adam.creager@mtpcsd.org.
