The City of Mount Pleasant will hold a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. at Mount Pleasant City Hall, 307 East Monroe Street, regarding the proposed transfer of the historic Second Baptist Church property to Historic Second Baptist Church, Inc. The public is invited to attend and provide comments. Written comments may also be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office. Their regular monthly council meeting will follow the hearing.

The 73rd annual West Point Sweet Corn Festival kicks off with “Shuckfest” at Merschman Seeds, Inc.  The sweet corn arrives around 4pm! The Festival runs Thursday through Sunday with free sweet corn, a carnival, parade, queen coronation, and nightly entertainment. All God’s Creatures, 2205 E. Washington Street, is hosting a “Dog Days of Summer event through Saturday!  “Chill” out with the dogs and enjoy a frozen treat from 1pm – 4pm.  This event is free and open to the public!
