Henry County Road Department announces the immediate road closure of New London Road (X23) south of Lowell. The timeframe for this closure is indefinite. There is a posted detour route, please drive with caution. Questions may be answered by calling (319) 385-0762.

A Nationwide EAS Test will be run on all radio stations today.  It is set to start at 1:20 pm and should last a minute.  This is a test only.

The Mount Pleasant City compost site is open for the season Saturdays from 8 am to 5 pm and Wednesdays from 1 to 6 pm.  The site is located southwest of Saunders Park at the intersection of Yocum Lane and Hoaglin Drive.

Mount Pleasant Farmers Market Wednesday hours are 4 to 6 pm at Wright Pavilion in McMillan Park.

The Henry County Conservation Department board of directors meets at 5:30 pm at the office in Oakland Mills.

Everyone is invited to West Point, Iowa to help shuck tons of sweetcorn in preparation for the West Point Sweetcorn Festival this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Shuckfest starts about 4 pm when the sweetcorn is unloaded in the street in front of Merschman Seed.

Sperry Methodist Church Ice Cream Social.  Serving starts at 4:30 pm.  The menu includes vanilla, strawberry and butter pecan homemade ice cream.  There will also be creamed chicken, beef burgers, hot dogs, two kinds of potato salad, baked beans, other salads, pie, angel food cake, brownies  and drinks.  A free will offering will be asked.
