Frederic Mathews, 79, of Chariton, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, January 27, 2023 at Chariton Specialty Care, Chariton, Iowa.
He was born December 2, 1943, in Bethesda, Maryland to Walter Mason and Bertha L. Beyer Mathews. He was a graduate of Highland Park High School in Highland Park, Michigan.
Mr. Mathews studied mathematics and was an inventor holding a patent for a motion machine. He was a prudent investor and an animal lover.
He is survived by one sister, Schael Ann Engle of Williamsburg, Iowa. His parents preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 1:00 – 5:00 pm at Elliott Chapel, New London. Burial will be at Tipton Masonic Cemetery, Tipton, Iowa. Online condolences may be left at www.elliottfuneralchapel.com.
