Gary D. Hart, 86, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Savannah Heights in Mt. Pleasant.
Gary was born on July 21, 1937, in rural Mt. Pleasant, the son of Ronald and Bertha (Mills) Hart. He was united in marriage to Sandra K. Schroeder on November 10, 1972. She preceded him in death on August 2, 2015. Gary was a ‘jack of all trades”; there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. For many years he worked for different construction companies running heavy equipment. In his younger years he and his brother were miners in Wyoming. He enjoyed his time outside either riding his Harley, horses, trapping, fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Lockridge Saddle Club. Gary was known for watching westerns and falling asleep in his recliner.
He is survived by his children, Tina (Jason) Nichting of Lockridge, Jeremy (Amy) Hart and April (Adam) Johnston, all of Mt. Pleasant, eight granddaughters, and his sisters, Janet Young, Joan Millard, Berta (Larry) Pearson, Ginger Robertson and Cherry (Frosty) Hermanstorfer, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one grandson and three brothers, Gene, Ronnie and Ted.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mt.Pleasant. Burial will follow in the Oakland Mills Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Friday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening. A memorial has been established in his memory.
