Gary Kyle

Gary William Kyle, 80, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Savannah Heights in Mt. Pleasant.

Gary was born on June 2, 1943, in Washington the son of William S. and Vera Elizabeth (Darbyshire) Kyle.  Gary graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and later joined the United States Air Force.  Gary was united in marriage to Shirley Roth on July 10, 1972; from this union Dallas was born.  They later divorced.  Gary worked for Superior Cable, McKay Envelope, Hy-Vee and was a bookkeeper for Hillyard Implement of Winfield. He later joined with Frank Allred and they opened an insurance company Allred and Kyle and also worked for George Means.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, target practicing with his brother Rich and attending Midwest Old Threshers.  He could usually be found at the Mt. Pleasant Depot watching the trains go through town with his train buddies.  Gary attended First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Jaycees.

He is survived by his son, Dallas of Mt. Pleasant, his brothers, Richard (Debbie) Kyle of Burlington and Ronald (Jacque) Kyle of Texas, along with a host of friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Nadine Kyle.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Steve English officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will be conducted at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.  Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Murphy Funeral Home where the family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening. A memorial has been established in his memory.
