Girls’ Prep Basketball: Lopreato, Buffington Honored by IPSWA

KILJ — Two area basketball standouts have been honored on the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association All-State teams.

Mount Pleasant junior Andrea Lopreato and Winfield-Mount Union’s Bradie Buffington were both third-team selections.

Lopreato helped guide the Panthers to a terrific playoff win over Fort Madison, while leading the team in nearly every major statistical category.

The senior-to be finished with 21.3 points and 10 rebounds per game, adding four assists, four steals and over a block per game.

She connected on over 53% of her field goals and was much improved three-point shooter in her junior campaign.

Next year she has an all but certain chance of joining Mount Pleasant’s 1,000 point scorers club, needing just 45 to hit that mark.

Buffington commandeered another terrific season for Mitch Wachs and the Lady Wolves, averaging a team-high 15 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.

Buffington and the Wolves finished their 19-5 falling in the 1A, Region 6 semis to Notre Dame.
