Gregory Dwight Hohl, 70, of Donnellson, Iowa, passed away at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, November 10, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.
He was born on March 7, 1954, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Dwight and Freda (Ball) Hohl. On August 15, 1976, he married Kathy Hentzel at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Donnellson, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife: Kathy; two children: Adam (Julie) Hohl and Amber (Blake) Conlee both of Donnellson, Iowa; grandchildren: Jacob and Addison Hohl and Gunner Conlee; siblings: Margo (Randy) Sprenger and Leslie Judson both of Donnellson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild: Baby Conlee.
Greg was a son, husband, dad and grandpa. He was a farmer that loved the land. He enjoyed designing and building creative equipment to solve practical problems on the farm. He took seriously his responsibility to help feed the world. He regarded himself as a caretaker of the land, knowing that someday that legacy would be passed to his children and grandchildren. Greg enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling with Kathy.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson. The family will not be present.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson with Pastor Michael Bennett officiating.
Burial will be at Evangelical Cemetery in Donnellson, Iowa. Following the burial, a time of remembrance and a luncheon will be held at the Lee County Fairgrounds Learning Center in Donnellson. Everyone is welcome.
Memorials have been established in his memory for the Lee County Food Pantry or Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.
