James Steven Reid Sr. 68, of Wapello, died Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at his home after a short illness.
Born October 13, 1952, at Fort Madison, he was the son of Jestus Bry and Helen Louise (Kersey) Reid. He married Patricia Ann Yaeger in Burlington on July 27, 1970.
James graduated from Burlington High School in 1970. He owned JS Reid Transportation and worked as a Trailways bus driver.
He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Burlington.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing cards. Up until the last 10 years, one of his favorite pastimes was playing the guitar. When he was younger, he was in the band “Lost Creed”. He even created his own YouTube channel. But the thing he loved most was his family and watching his sons and grandchildren play sports.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Patty of Wapello; three sons, Steve (Amanda) Reid of Burlington, Mike (Yolanda) Reid of Wapello, and David Reid of Oakville; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Pat (Debi) Reid and Brian (Lisa) Reid; aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The celebration of life for Mr. Reid will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 12th at Solid Rock Baptist Church of Wapello. A private family inurnment will be held in Claypoole Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
