Janet Sue Morris, 75, of Fairfield, passed away Monday, April 13, 2026 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Visitation for family and friends will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2026 at First Baptist Church in Fairfield. Funeral services celebrating her life will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor John Kermott officiating. Burial will be at Unionville Cemetery, Unionville, Iowa.
Janet was born July 16, 1950 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Roberteen (Beaty) Ahee. She married Larry Irwin, they later divorced.
Janet taught Special Education at Pence Elementary in Fairfield and was awarded Teacher of the Year. Janet loved sports and spending time outside, she was a talented water skier and golfer with a hole in one to her credit. She loved to spend a summer day hosting her family and friends on the boat. Above all else, Janet loved her family. It is impossible to calculate the miles she travelled to cheer on her grandchildren in all their activities. Travelling with Doe & Allan, and rooting on the Hawkeyes, Cyclones & Cubs with Ray were her favorite ways to enjoy her retirement. Janet had many great friends and kept her close friendships all through her life, all the way back from her time attending Moravia Schools, where she was the salutatorian of her graduating class. Janet was an active volunteer contributing to her community and those in need.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Todd (Faith-Anne Molyneaux) Irwin of Kalona, and Eric (Kristy) Irwin of Johnston; grandchildren, Grace, Jack, Hudson, Hadley, Harper, Mercedes, Bryan, David, Dominic, Courtney and Jessica; great-granddaughter, Alahna; her sister, Donna (Allan Herman) Ahee of Solon; special friend, Ray Woody; and many nieces, nephew, and great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Nieko; and brothers, Mike, Dave & Rick.
Memorials may be made in her name to Camp Courageous, where Janet was a dedicated volunteer.
