Lillian Jeanette Schweer, 84, of Donnellson, Iowa, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, August 13 , 2026, at the West Point Care Center.
She was born on May 28, 1942 in rural Donnellson, Iowa, the daughter of William and Maxene (Derr) Kirchner. On October 20, 1963, she married Donald Schweer at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Franklin, Iowa.
Survivors include her husband: Donald; daughter: Sandy (Bob) Bryant; three grandchildren: Nick (Kaitlyn) Fedler, Tyler (Haley) Bryant; TiAhnna (Ian) Thomson; four great granddaughters: Maren Fedler, Alison, Emmalyn and Elsie Bryant. Also surviving is her brother Jack (Joyce) Kirchner, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother: Delbert Derr.
Lillian attended Donnellson School and graduated in 1960. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ where she served on many committees over the years. She worked at the Donnellson Nursing Home and Sheaffer Pen. After her daughter Sandy was born she helped her husband Donnie on the farm. Later in life she worked in the deli at HyVee in Keokuk for twenty years. She also sold Avon until everything became computer generated, which forced her to give it up. Lillian enjoyed gardening, going to garage sales and keeping genealogy books for both her and Donnie’s families.
Her body has been entrusted to the crematory of Schmitz Funeral Home for cremation.
A visitation, with family receiving friends, will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson, Iowa.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2026, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Donnellson, Iowa with Pastor Tony Keefe officiating.
Burial will be at Primrose Cemetery in rural Primrose, Iowa
Memorials have been established in her memory for Primrose Cemetery, Everhart Cemetery or St. Paul’s United Church of Christ.
