Linda Whitington, 75, of Wapello passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022 at Southeast Iowa Medical Center. Celebration of Life for Linda will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the Church of the Nazarene in Wapello. A time of food and fellowship will follow the celebration of life at the church. Linda Sue Wolfe was born on May 10, 1946 in Danville Illinois, the daughter of Ralph and Evelyn (Pierce) Wolfe. On September 22, 1966, Linda was united in marriage to Gary “Tiny” Whitington in Fairmount, Illinois. Linda worked as a waitress, at the various campgrounds, and at the age of 50 obtained her CDL and became a truck driver. She was a member of the Church of Nazarene in Wapello and Red Hats. She enjoyed crafting, making candy, reading, crocheting and dearly enjoyed being with her family.
Linda will be deeply missed by her children, Jim (Jenny) Whitington of Oakwood, Illinois, John (Audra) Whitington of Eagle Lake, Minnesota, Lee Ann (Kirk) Swanson of Wapello and Shannon (David) Williams of Alton, Missouri, grandchildren, Jessie Whitington, Cory (Krista) Whitington, Hannah (Alex) Zellmer, Jacob Whitington, Noah Whitington, Chris (Steph) Lihs, Chad (Lisa) Lihs, Mary (Curtis) Wright, Cody Swanson, Kayla (Karl) Mathews, Gary (Gailene) Whitington and Tiffany (Travis) Campbell and twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Dean (Sue) Wolfe of Danville, Illinois, sister, Nina (David) Keys of Hume, Illinois and nieces and nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gary in 2008; son-in-law, Michael Lihs; two great-grandchildren, Valerie and Konner Lihs; and siblings, Don Wolfe, Dixie Welch and Delores Shields.
