Marjorie Ann Wilson, 92, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of New London, died Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Henry County Health Center.
She was born August 3, 1929 in Lacona, Iowa to Edward John and Iona Mary Seuferer Ohnemus. On June 15, 1953, she married N. Wayne Wilson in Waterloo. He died July 4, 1991. For eight years she attended country school, then two years at Milo High School and graduated from Knoxville High School. She attended Oakland Mills Community Church for many years and was involved with Ladies Aide. She worked at United Food Market in Knoxville and the Supply Store for six years before settling in as a homemaker while raising her daughters.
She enjoyed visiting her sister in Florida; traveling; tending her flowers, gardening and feeding the birds; reading her Bible and doing crossword puzzles; and she dearly loved her family. She was a prayer warrior, praying nightly for over 150 people.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by five daughters; Gwen (Dave) Capps of Trenton, Jean (John) Weyrick of West Burlington, Wilma (Dave) Evans of New London, Becky Hale of New London, and Peggy Swank of Otley; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; brother Darrell (Carmen) Ohnemus of Newton; sisters Shirley Stephenson of Florida and Lila Russell of Melcher-Dallas, Iowa; nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter and son-in-law Karma Kaye and Audie Ellard II; brother-in-law James Russell; niece Debbie Russell; baby twin great-grandsons, Jasson and Vincent Ellard; sons-in-law, Lyle Swank, Steve Hale and Richard Jones.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, March 5, 2022 at Elliott Chapel, New London with Pastor Rick Moorman officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
