Michael Raye Joy, 57, of New London, IA and formerly of Sikeston, MO, died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at his residence.
Michael was born November 1, 1968 in Normal, Illinois. He was the son of Kenneth Eugene and Connie Lea (Steward) Joy.
Following his high school and college education, Michael began a long-time career as a Medical Technician in the Healthcare Field. For nearly 40 years, he worked primarily in nursing homes. Michael was an excellent caregiver. He was very dedicated to his job that he loved very much. When not involved with his job, Michael was an avid reader who enjoyed sitting d
own with a good book.
Those thankful for sharing in Michael’s life include his life companion, James Gregory of New London; his mother, Connie Palmer of Atalissa, IA; 2 aunts – Nancy Steward of New London and Charlotte Vigue of Mt. Pleasant; an uncle – Ronnie Steward of Mediapolis, IA; a niece and nephew – Nevaeh and Jacob Joy and a great niece, Sophira Joy.
Michael is preceded in death by his father Kenneth and his brother, Bradley Joy.
