Middle School Cross Country: Mt. Pleasant Shows Promise in Opening Meet

Keokuk, IA- The Mt. Pleasant middle school cross country team got their season started last night at the Elks Fairview Golf Course in Keokuk and a trio of Panther runners found a spot in the top 10, one on the boys’ team and two for the girls’ team.

On the boys’ side, Logan Fedler crossed the finish line with a time of 9 minutes and 25 seconds, which was good enough for 8th place and a medal. Carpenter Henderson was the next Panther to finish as he took 30th place. Hayden Hesseltine, Javin Freeborn, and Lorenzo Aranda claimed 33rd, 34th, and 35th place, respectively, as the team finished in 4th place out of four teams.

The girls’ team is still searching for two runners to contend amongst the team scores; however, Sofia Holl and Danielle Wagner needed a photo finish to decipher who earned 7th place and it was Holl who paced a time of 10 minutes and 34.1 seconds, while Wagner clocked a time of 10 minutes and 34.9 seconds. Claire Johnson grabbed 19th place to round out the squad.

Mt. Pleasant will be heading to Fairfield next Thursday, September 11th, for the “Ron Hunerdosse” Invite.
