Tuesday, just after 2:30 pm the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting a missing Lockridge woman. Doris Dian Crocker, reportedly left her home at about noon that day and never returned. The heat index was approximately 110, and Ms. Crocker reportedly suffered from mild dementia. A search party was coordinated that included members of the Lockridge Fire Department and concerned citizens. Ms. Crocker’s body was located by the search party in a field North of Lockridge in the early evening. There were no immediate signs of trauma. Initial indications are she died due to the high heat. The Jefferson County Medical Examiner Investigator responded to the scene, and an autopsy has been ordered to confirm the cause and manner of death.
