Nancy Sue Stuekerjuergen

Nancy Sue Stuekerjuergen, 86, of the Kensington, formerly of West Point passed away at 2:40 p.m., September 1, 2021, at The Kensington in Fort Madison, Iowa.

Nancy was born on August 20, 1935, the daughter of Henry and Hilda (Galle) Sprenger. On October 15, 1955, she married Paul H. Stuekerjuergen at St. James the Less Catholic Church, in St. Paul, Iowa. He preceded her in death on August 24, 2004.

She is survived by her four sons: Greg (Doris) Stuekerjuergen of West Point, Brad (Bonny) Stuekerjuergen of West Point, Kevin (Tami) Stuekerjuergen of Donnellson and Dennis (Traci) Stuekerjuergen of West Point; two daughters: Paula (Mark) Spiekermeier of West Point and Christy (Jerry Wilson) Powell of Fort Madison; fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; three great – great grandchildren; two sisters: Dorothy Betts and Isla Stuetelberg; sisters and brother-in-law; Sue Sprenger, Vivian Stuekerjuergen, Phyllis Frey, Mary and Dick Klesner. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter: Amy; granddaughter: Shalyn; grandson: Mitch, great grandson: Dante; four brothers and four sisters.

Nancy was a graduate of Fort Madison High School. She worked at Mt. Hamill Tap for seventeen years as a waitress. She also worked at Sheaffer Pen and retired after twenty years. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point. She was an avid bingo player and loved to read, crochet and cross stitch. Nancy loved to preserve the wealth of the large garden planted by her husband, Paul. She also loved spending time with friends and family at the Idol Inn (Sanford’s Cabin).

Friends may call after 12:00 noon Friday, September 3, 2021, at Schmitz Funeral Home in West Point, where the family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A Christian wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Schmitz Funeral Home in West Point with Father Dennis Hoffman officiating. Nancy’s service will be live streamed and posted to her obituary “Tribute Wall” on our website following at: www.schmitzfuneralhomes.com.

Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in West Point.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her memory for the West Point Library and West Point Fire & Rescue.
