On February 1, 2022, Iowa Wesleyan is extending an open invitation to the Women’s Basketball game in the Ruble Arena located in the Howe Student Activity Center, with a special acknowledgment to Black History Month during halftime. LaShawnda Roberts ’19, Senior Financial Aid Counselor for Iowa Wesleyan, along with a planning committee, has actively organized each event. Roberts stated, “My goal in helping with arranging and planning these events for the students is not only to show our Black students that they are important, but that I have walked in their shoes as a Black alum. I also believe this is important to show them that Iowa Wesleyan has faculty and staff that want to hear what they have to say as well as celebrate their achievements and the achievements and progress of Black figures and movements throughout history.”
