The Mt. Pleasant girls’ team entered their home opener plagued by injury as two of their starting guards, Abby Carthey and Tori Wilson, will be unable to play until January; thus, resulting in a 57-16 drubbing at the hands of Pella last night. The game did not start that way as the Panthers held their ground for the first-half quarter, but as head coach Curt Watson talked about at the end of the game, the Dutch clamped down on the Panther offense,

“I mean we I thought we started out really well and then their press just took over against us and they had a game Friday you can tell they’ve played a game already but they did their press is so good. And we just really had trouble handling the ball tonight with it. And like I said, we had a lot of good moments that we started out really well. I thought, man, this pretty good right now and everything. But after that, we really started struggling, especially the first half.”
