Prep Baseball: New London Focused, Ready For Savages

New London — The No. 7 ranked New London Tiger baseball team has their eyes on the prize in lieu of their matchup with Sigourney tonight.

The Tigers are just two games from the state tournament and can take the step into substate play with a win this evening against the Savages.

New London has cruised into the the district finals with an 18-1 win over Tri-County and an 11-1 win over Danville earlier this week.

Tonight will undoubtedly be New London’s toughest draw of the season, as the two teams are meeting for just the third time in four years.

The Savages, 19-5, had to rally against Notre Dame to earn their ticket to dance with New London.

They scored 12 unanswered runs to beat the Nikes 13-7.

Offensively, they’re led by junior Cade Molyneux who his hitting a cool .470 with 23 RBI, 12 doubles and 33 stolen bases.

Cade Streigle adds to the fireworks, bringing a .403 average to the play with two homers and 36 runs batted in.

For New London, who boasts one of the deepest lineups in the state, it’s often a different offensive star each night.

Josh Catala sets the table with a .466 average, stuffing the stat sheet with 23 RBI, 3 doubles, three triples, two homers and 23 stolen bases.

Hecniel Rodriguez has a team-high 36 RBI.
