Prep Baseball: Panthers Fall to Fort Madison, End Season

Fort Madison — Mount Pleasant jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but saw Fort Madison rally for the games’ next nine rounds as the Bloodhounds earned a 9-2 win on their home diamond yesterday.

The win propelled Fort Madison to the second round of the Class 3A-Substate 4 playoffs, where they’ll greet Central DeWitt Monday night.

Tate Johnson had a three-hit night to pace the Fort Madison attack, while Reiburn Turnbull finished a home run shy of the cycle.

Landes Williams worked 6.1 innings allowing three hits and two runs.

Jason Thurman finished the game getting the final two outs.

Jack Johnson had two hits including an RBI double for Mount Pleasant, who closes their season 7-25.

Will Edeker was the losing pitcher for the Panthers.

Fort Madison improved to 25-8.
