Shirley J. (Fraise) Martin, 87, of West Point, Iowa, passed away at 9:11 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2026 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
She was born on September 27, 1938 in West Point, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore and Viola (Grelk) Fraise. On June 29, 1957 she married Leonard Wayne Martin in West Point, Iowa, he preceded her in death on January 8, 2015.
Survivors include her son Wayne Allen (Shelly) Martin of West Point, Iowa; three daughters: Peggy (Leroy) Vorwaldt of Fort Madison, Iowa, Elizabeth (Mark) Counts of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Paula (Mike) Reu of Donnellson, Iowa; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother Marvin (Marcia) Fraise of West Burlington, Iowa; and sister-in-law Marilyn (Jake) Broadfield of Wever, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren in infancy; and four brothers: Albert, Keith, Andrew, and Eugene Fraise.
Shirley worked as a nurses aid at Fort Madison Community Hospital and a cook for West Point Knights of Columbus. She enjoyed her family, and animals, especially her horses.
Her body has been entrusted to the crematory of Schmitz Funeral Home for cremation.
Per her wishes no services are being planned.
