High School Basketball
Winfield-Mt. Union and Holy Trinity Catholic had their game over the weekend postponed with a make-up date to be announced at a later time. The Crusaders will take on Van Buren County tomorrow, December 17th, with game one at 6 pm.
Columbus will face off against Winfield-Mt. Union tomorrow with the girls’ getting the night going at 6.
The Fairfield girls’ team’s contest against Davis County was canceled over the weekend. The Trojans will travel to Keokuk on Friday, December 20th, with the girls’ tipping-off the night at 6 pm.
The Central Lee girls’ team had their matchup against Centerville over the weekend canceled due to weather. New London will square off against Central Lee tomorrow with the girls starting off the night at 6 pm.
Mt. Pleasant will host Benton tonight in a doubleheader with game time scheduled for 5:30 pm. KILJ 105.5 FM, kilj.com, will be on the call with the pregame show at 5:15 pm.
The Van Buren County boys’ team will take on West Liberty tonight at 7:30 pm.
WACO will face off against Hillcrest Academy tomorrow with game one at 6 pm.
West Burlington will travel to Danville tomorrow with the girls playing first at 6 pm.
Wapello will compete against Highland tomorrow in a road matchup with the first game at 6 pm.
Mediapolis will face off against Burlington Notre Dame tomorrow with the boys following the girls’ game at 7:30 pm.
High School Wrestling
All wrestling meets scheduled this past weekend were canceled due to weather.
Mt. Pleasant will dual on Thursday, December 19th, against Fort Madison at home.
Fairfield will take on Burlington on the road on Thursday.
The New London boys’ team will face off against Pekin on Thursday on the road.
WACO will compete in a double dual on Thursday against Mediapolis and Burlington Notre Dame at home.
The Wapello boys’ team will celebrate their senior night on Thursday in a triangular against Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union and Van Buren County.
The Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union girls’ team will compete in the John Randles Invite at Prairie on Saturday, December 21st.
The Wapello girls’ team will travel to Chariton for an invitational on Saturday.

Southeastern Community College
The #10 men’s basketball team was dealt their first loss of the season over the weekend, losing 84-52 to Moberly Area Community College, but defeating Highland Community College 69-58 as Shamar Avance led the team with 21 points. The Blackhawks will take on Western Iowa Tech at home on January 8th with tip-off scheduled for 7 pm.
College Football
#18 Iowa State will face off against #16 Miami in the Pop Tarts Bowl on December 28th at 2:30 pm in Orlando.
Iowa will take on #19 Missouri for the Music City Bowl on December 30th in Nashville at 1:30 pm.
College Basketball
The #3 Iowa State men’s team breezed past Omaha yesterday 83-61. The Cyclones had Keshon Gilbert produce a game-high 16 points. Iowa State will host Morgan State on Sunday, December 22nd, with game time scheduled for noon.
The Iowa men’s team clobbered New Orleans yesterday 104-57. The Hawkeyes shot over 60% from the floor as Owen Freeman tallied 22 points in the win. Iowa will meet Utah on Saturday, December 21st, at 5 pm in a road matchup.
The #21 Iowa women’s team’s poor fourth quarter shooting gave #17 Michigan State all the space they needed as the Spartans snuck out with the 68-66 victory. Hannah Stuelke captured 18 points in the loss. The Hawkeyes will face off against Northern Iowa on Friday, December 20th, at 6:30 pm at home.
The #18 Iowa State women’s team trounced Eastern Illinois 87-55. Addy Brown put together a 20 point-10 rebound double-double for the Cyclones, but Audi Crooks led the scoring with an impressive 30 points. Iowa State will be tested against #2 UConn at 7:30 pm tomorrow, December 17th, on the road.
