High School Track and Field

The state track meet starts today and will run through Saturday, May 20th.

The Mt. Pleasant boys team will be competing in 3 events today and the girls team will have Andi Scott running in the 100 meter dash.

The Winfield-Mt. Union girls team will be competing in the shuttle hurdle relay today and the boys team will have Cam Buffington run the 100 meter dash and compete in the long jump.

The WACO boys team will participate in the shuttle hurdle relay and Simeon Reichenbach will go in the long jump.

The Danville boys and girls teams will compete in 3 events today.

Boden Pickle of New London will run in the 100 meter dash.

The Van Buren County boys team will participate in 3 events today.

Thomas Eschman will run in the 100 meter dash and compete in the long jump.

KILJ will be bringing results throughout the state track meet.

High School Soccer

The Mt. Pleasant girls’ team will host Maquoketa in the Regional Qualifier tomorrow, May 19th.

The Danville boys’ team will face off against West Liberty in the second round of the postseason on May 22nd.

The Central Lee boys’ team will travel to take on Pella Christian on May 22nd for the second round of the postseason.

The Central Lee girls team was eliminated from the postseason last night after falling to Mid-Prairie 1-0. The Hawks end the season with a 7-6 record.

For girls’ soccer, Washington defeated Mediapolis last night 3-0. Burlington Notre Dame will host Clinton tomorrow at 7 pm. The bottom half of the Class 2A Region 5 bracket will be a Southeast Conference battle with Fort Madison squaring off with Keokuk in round one tomorrow at 7 pm.

High School Golf

The Mt. Pleasant girls team season is done after shooting a 511 at the Regional Final yesterday. Kylie Walderbach led the way for the Panthers as she shot a 100 for the course.

The boys’ state tournament will start on May 22nd with Mason Shelledy of New London playing at Ames Golf and Country Club.

The New London girls’ team will be competing at the state tournament after finishing as the top team with a score of 371. The Tigers had 3 of the top 6 golfers. Taylor Phillips finished as the runner up with a score of 87 followed by Emma Nye with a score of 89 and Sophie Malott shot a 90. Winfield-Mt. Union finished in 5th place with Alli Humphries and Isabel Kann tying for 24th place with a score of 109 leading the way for the Wolves. The state tournament will start on May 25th and run through the 26th.

Olivia Hines of Mediapolis advanced to state as an individual with the best score on the course with an 84. Gabi Roberston led the way for Mid-Prairie to advance as a team.

High School Baseball

Mt. Pleasant/Mediapolis game has been postponed.  Mediapolis doesn’t have enough players due to State Track participation.

Iowa Wesleyan Athletics

The NAIA National Championship meet will take place on May 24th for outdoor track and field.
