Prep Baseball: New London Sweeps, Other Area Finals:

New London 20, Winfield-Mount Union 0 

New London 13, Iowa City Regina 3 

New London stayed perfect with a pair of wins yesterday at home, beating Winfield-Mount Union 20-0, then defeating Iowa City Regina 13-3.

Against the Wolves, New London scored 16 runs in the 2nd inning cruising to the victory. Carter Allen and Kooper Schulte each had two hits — Schulte’s were home runs — he drove in seven runs.

Camden Kasel and Ryan Richey also drove in two runs.

Drew Benz was the winning pitcher, working four inning allowing five hits and a walk while striking out three.

In the nightcap against Regina, the Tigers scored 13 consecutive runs after trailing 3-0 in a 13-3 winner.

New London pulled away with seven runs in the 5th inning and four runs in the 6th.

Kooper Schulte and Camden Kasel had three hits apiece, while Hecniel Rodriguez drove in three runs.

Seth Bailey went the distance for the Tigers, scattering seven hits and two walks, while striking out six hitters.

New London improved to a perfect 13-0.

Danville 14, Lone Tree 11

Klayton Kleinkopf had a three hit evening, while Cam Edle and Sawyer Nelson each drove in two runs as Danville slugged their way to a 14-11 win over Lone Tree last night.

Edle had two hits on his ledger, as well.

The win moved Danville to 4-7.

Lone Tree evened up at 7-7.

West Burlington 4, Louisa-Muscatine 3 

Van Buren County 4, Highland 3

Prep Softball: Winfield-Mount Union Stays Hot, Mount Pleasant Loses: 

Winfield-Mount Union 13, New London 0

Winfield-Mount Union scored in every inning, rolling past Henry County rival New London yesterday, 13-0.

Jobey Malone had three hits, including a two-RBI double to break the game open in the 6th inning.

Madie Anderson drove in two runs, while Carlee Sloan also had a three hit night, scoring three runs atop Walt Jackson’s lineup.

The Lady Wolves have outscored their opponents 23-0 since the 7-6 heartbreaker to No. 2 (2A) Louisa-Muscatine on Monday.

Anderson struck out 13 over six innings allowing just one hit.

Winfield-Mount Union improved to 11-3.

New London fell to 4-15.

Wilton 14, Mount Pleasant 0 

Wilton 12, Mount Pleasant 0 

Mount Pleasant was no-hit in game one and beaten soundly in game two, as the Panthers were swept by No. 1 (2A) Wilton last night.

In game one Bethany Drury was the losing pitcher, while Ella McNamee took the loss in the nightcap.

In game two, Jersey Beachy and Drury each had base hits.

Mount Pleasant dipped to 1-19.

Danville 8, Lone Tree 7 

Ava Smith had four hits in four trips while scoring two runs as Danville earned an 8-7 win over Lone Tree last night.

Carle Beckman and Graci Walker each had two hits, while Morgan Waste scored two runs.

Haiden Molter earned the win allowing four earned runs over 6.2 innings, striking out five.

Smith came in to close the door for the final out and earned the save.

Danville improved to 4-7.

Lone Tree fell to 7-11.

Keokuk 13, Mediapolis 5 

West Burlington 7, Louisa-Muscatine 2 

Van Buren County 4, Highland 0 

Boys’ Soccer: SEC Announces All-Conference List:

Mount Pleasant’s Logan Lee and Dillan Malone were both named to the Southeast Conference All-Conference list, yesterday the league has announced.

Malone finished with a team-high four goals on 17 shots helping guide the Panthers offense this season.

Logan Lee, the teams goalkeeper, made 176 saves over the course of the season — good for nearly 12 per game.

He finished with a save percentage of 72%.

Mount Pleasant ended their year 2-13.

Girls’ Soccer: Four Panthers Named All-SEC:

Andrea Lopreato, Elly Manning, Emma Pieper and Ryann Davidson were all named to the Southeast Conference All-Conference list, the league announced yesterday.

That quartet helped propel the Panthers to a 7-1 conference mark, finishing 9-3 under first year head coach Auybriana Johnson.

Lopreato racked up 54 points, scoring 26 goals and assisting on two others for Mount Pleasant, while Manning finished with a team-high eight assists and was second on the team with 12 goals.

Pieper, the senior goalkeeper, was sublime all year long, making 78 saves for an 83% save percentage.

Abby West and Chloe Warner were both Honorable Mention selections.
