Prep Softball: West Burlington Just Keeps Winning on Quiet Night:

With mother nature acting up it was a quiet night of prep softball in the area, but No. 4 (3A) West Burlington-Notre Dame found a way to get their contest in, as they sprinted to a 12-0 win over Holy Trinity.

Reagan Engberg had four hits, three runs scored, four RBI and two stolen bases to the lead the Falcons to their 27th win.

Prep Softball: Ranked Matchup Set for KILJ’s Featured Game:

It should be an absolute dandy tonight when No. 13 (1A) Winfield-Mount Union meets up with No. 4 (3A) West Burlington-Notre Dame for a Super Conference Crossover, in KILJ’s featured contest of the night.

The Falcons come in with a record of 27-3, while the Lady Wolves are 14-5.

Tonight they’ll meet for the first time since last summer and runs figure to be at a premium.

Of course, Winfield is led by the right arm of senior ace Madie Anderson.

Anderson has struck out 235 hitters over 123.1 innings this season and has a miniscule 0.74 ERA.

The Indian Hills recruit has been as advertised and then some for Walt Jackson’s group.

Meanwhile, West Burlington-Notre Dame’s ace Lauren Summers — just a sophomore — has been equally impressive.

Summers has punched out 210 hitters over 150.2 innings, while holding a 1.02 ERA.

She’s also been dynamic with the stick leading the team with a .412 batting average to go along with five homers and 27 runs batted in.

Logan Kelley, the Falcons freshman catcher, has belted 15 homers and has driven in 43.

You can listen to tonight’s game on FM 105.5 with the game starting at 7:00 p.m.

Nathan Bloechl will have the call beginning with the pre-game show at approximately 6:45 p.m.

College Football: Iowa Picks Up Oklahoma Prep QB:

The Iowa Hawkeye football team has been red hot on the recruiting trail, and the trend continued yesterday when they secured a commitment from rising senior Carson May of Jones, Oklahoma.

May held interest from Baylor, Colorado and Iowa State among others.

The 6-foot-5 gunslinger threw for 3,000 yards last year and is currently ranked as the No. 82 quarterback in the country for the Class of 2022.

He’ll join a quarterback room in the future that is expected to be headed by some combination of Alex Padilla and Deuce Hogan.
