Prep Volleyball: Southeast Conference Announces All-Conference Teams:

Three Mount Pleasant Panther volleyball players were named First Team All-Conference yesterday, the league announced.

Kenna Lamm and Regan and Ralyn Seberg were all First Team selections, joined by Makalya Altgilbers and Abby Wolter of Keokuk and Fairfield’s Kiya Robertson.

Lamm was named the Conference Player of the Year.

An outside hitter, Lamm averaged 3.6 kills per set — tops on the team — as well as adding 10 blocks and 25 aces.

The conference champions, Mount Pleasant also had two Honorable Mention choices in Lydia Ebeling and Tristian Shull.

The Panthers were ousted in the first round of the Class 4A postseason, losing in five sets to upstart Fairfield.

Mount Pleasant closed their year 20-15 under head coach Dave Streeter.

Prep Volleyball: West Liberty Rides Daufeldt to Sweep Win:

Drake recruit Macy Daufeldt poured in a match high 23 kills as No. 4 West Liberty swept No. 10 West Burlington yesterday in a Class 3A region championship.

The Comets advance to the state tournament, while West Burlington bows out at 30-4.

Sophia Armstrong paced the Lady Falcons front row with nine kills, equaling her squad mate McKenna Marlow.

Abbey Bence had 24 assists.

The win propelled West Liberty to 37-4, as they await the pairings in the Class 3A volleyball tournament.

Prep Volleyball: Holy Trinity, Notre Dame, Mediapolis All Vie for State Berths:

Three area teams will be looking to punch their tickets to the Alliant Energy PowerHouse and the State Volleyball tournament tonight.

Holy Trinity, Notre Dame and Mediapolis will all take part in Regional Finals tonight.

In our featured matchup, No. 5 Holy Trinity will scrap with Lamoni at Ottumwa Middle School — you can listen on FM 105.5.

The Crusaders, who saw their 10-year streak to state snapped last year are back within one game again under head coach Melissa Freesmeier.

Notre Dame, the top-ranked team in 1A and defending state champions, are 34-8 and will look to get back to Cedar Rapids when they hook up with unranked Easton Valley.

The River Hawks are 21-8 on the season.

Those two teams will be playing the first of two games tonight at the Muskie Dome in Muscatine.

The back half of that twin-bill features No. 2 Wilton taking on Mediapolis.

The upset-minded Bullettes took down Danville earlier this week to punch their ticket to the region finals.
