Teresa Wurtzel

Teresa A. Wurtzel, 79, of Danville, died Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Wheatland Manor, Wheatland, Iowa.  She was born December 24, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri to Claude and Beatrice Teeter Palmer.  She attended Kirksville Teacher’s College and married Dean Wurtzel November 30, 1963.  He died October 29, 2021.

She spent most of her life as a homemaker and played the piano for Long Creek Methodist Church, as well as serving in various other positions.  She enjoyed flower gardening, feeding the birds, was an avid reader, and passed her love of horses to the next generation.

She is survived by three daughters; Kendra Lyons of Davenport, Gina (Thad) Wurtzel of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and Wendy (Ryle) Roseke of Lowden, Iowa; her sister Cheryl Palmer; aunt Doris Timmerman; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.  She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and one sister, Sharon Cluney.

According to her wishes, her body has been cremated and private family inurnment will be held at Long Creek Cemetery, rural Danville.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 12:00 Wednesday, November 9th at Elliott Chapel, New London with a light luncheon immediately following.  A memorial has been established for the Danville Library.  Online condolences may be left at www.elliottfuneralchapel.com.
