Theresa E. (nee Specht) Wamer, 59, of Salem, IA, formerly of Davenport, IA, Carmel, IN and Park Forest, IL, died Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport.
The funeral mass for Theresa will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 17 at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Houghton, IA. The Revs. Dan Dorau and Andrew Rauenbuhler will concelebrate the mass. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9-10 AM on Wednesday at the church. Friends may call to sign the register and pay respects from 12-8 PM on Tuesday at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 N. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, IA.

Theresa Elizabeth Specht was born February 17, 1963 in Chicago, IL. She was the daughter of Robert Gregory and Bernadine (nee Kruszynski) Specht. She lived in Park Forest before moving with her family to Carmel, IN. She graduated from Carmel High School in 1981. During her high school years, she played violin and was the 1st Chair of the Violin I section of the Indianapolis Youth Symphony. She matriculated to Ball State University and was conferred with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice. She furthered her education at Capella University, earning her master’s degree in Marital and Family Therapy.
While at Ball State, Theresa met her future husband. On July 26, 1986 at St. Wamer.
Theresa’s career highlights include her positions as Assistant Criminal Court Clerk Supervisor of Marion County (Indianapolis), IN, Tabulations Manager for PMR Research and Donor Recruitment Coordinator for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, both in Davenport.
Theresa was very active in multiple volunteer organizations. For 10 years, she was the Coordinator of Service Meals (for the underprivileged) of Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish of Davenport. She was active in several neighborhood organizations, most notably the Hamburg Historic District of Davenport. When time permitted, Theresa enjoyed gardening and raising chickens. She was a voracious reader, completing an untold number of books.
Those thankful for sharing in Theresa’s life include her husband, Robert, of Salem; her parents, Robert and Bernadine Specht of Monmouth, IA; her children – Richard Willer (Laura Schnack) of Silvis, IL, Jacqueline Cohoon (Craig) of Davenport, Kameron Wamer (Zoe Rae Lozano) o f Davenport and Kajohnique Wamer of Fairfield, IA; her brothers – Stephen Specht of Kokomo, IN and Robert Todd Specht of Davenport; her sister-in-law, Stacy Specht of Noblesville, IN; her grandchildren – Dylan, Madeline, Jace, Connor, Eleanore and Cecelia; Robert’s siblings – Liz Borgman (Tony) of Phoenix, AZ, Debbie Wamer-Quinlyn (Robert) of Columbus, IN, Richard Wamer, Jr. (Dina Delaney) of Tucson, AZ and Joni Wamer of Indianapolis;
Theresa is preceded in death by her “beloved baby brother” – Wayne Stanley Specht, her mother & father-in-law, Richard & Gloria Wamer; her sister-in-law – Gloria Wamer-Holmes and her grandmother – Eleanore Kruszynski.
