William H. Jeffers, 75, of Donnellson, Iowa, passed away at 7:13 p.m. Monday, May 31, 2021, at his home in Donnellson.
He was born on April 26, 1946, in Altadena, California, the son Pearl Jr. and Anna (Hanson) Jeffers.
He is survived by his sister: Chris (Lester) Strunk of Donnellson; four nieces: Beth (Gabe) Orth, Sara (Todd) Mills, Jenel Wesselink and Stacey (Jeremy) Good and two nephews: Darold (Rita) Jeffers and Brian (Kim) Strunk. Also surviving are several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: David.
William was a 1966 graduate of Central Lee High School. He served in United States Navy on the U.S.S. White River from 1966 to 1968. He worked at the Keokuk National Cemetery as a crew leader. William was a member of the Keokuk American Legion and the Mobile Riverine Force Association. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, woodworking and gardening.
His body has been entrusted to Schmitz Funeral Home for cremation.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2021, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2021, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson with Pastor Kathryn Hart officiating. Following his funeral, a video of the service will be posted on his obituary page under his “Tribute Wall” at www.schmitzfuneralhomes.com.
Burial will be at Oakland Sand Cemetery, Vincennes, Iowa, with full military rites presented by the Donnellson American Legion Gillaspey – Moodie Post #474.
Memorials have been established in his memory for the Donnellson American Legion.
