Woman Hospitalized After Early Morning Incident on Douds Bridge

This morning at approximately 8 AM the Van Buren County Dispatch Center received numerous 911 reports of a female pedestrian disrupting traffic on the Des Moines River bridge in Douds.

The female was reported to be partially clothed, and possible suicidal.

When responding units arrived, they learned that the female had thrown herself in front of a commercial motor vehicle causing the driver to stop. Once the vehicle was stopped the female climbed on top of the vehicle and was refusing to come down.

The female was eventually coaxed down by first responders and was taken by ambulance to the Van Buren County Hospital for a psychological evaluation.

The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Douds Fire Department, Douds First Responders, and the Van Buren County Ambulance.
