2023 Iowa High School Girls’ State Golf Wrap Up

Girls’ State Golf- The 2023 Iowa High School Girls’ Golf state meet is in the books and here’s how our local teams finished.

In Class 1A, The Tigers finished in 2nd place as a team with a score of +153. Taylor Phillips led the team with a silver medalist finish as she shot an 82 on day two for a total score of 16 over par.

Emma Nye finished in 12th place with a score of 42 over par after shooting an 87 on day two. Emma Busby took 23rd with a score of 47 over par and Sophie Malott finished in 24th place with a score of 48 over par.

Isabelle Nye grabbed 59th place after shooting 224 (+80) over the span of the two-day tournament. Stevey Wintermeyer shot a 115 on day two to collect a total score of 94 over par.

Abbie Lindeman’s 1st place score of +15 led Grundy Center to the team title for Class 1A.

Olivia Hines of Mediapolis collected a 3rd place finish as a sophomore last year; now, she grabbed the silver medal after her 20 over par performance in Class 2A. Hines shot an 82 on day two after entering the round 9 over par.

Chloe Bolte of Sumner-Fredericksburg repeated as the individual champion after her score of +10. Roland Story grabbed the team title for Class 2A, winning by 8 strokes.

Washington finished in 4th place for Class 3A with a team score of 341 (+112).  The top golfer for the Demons was Kaylin Long after she tied for 4th place shooting a 13 over par with a round two score of 79. Makenna Conrad finished with a score of 20 over par after improving by two strokes on day two to tie for 10th place.

After shooting a 93 in rounds two, Haley Mitchell finished tied for 29th with a final score of 39 over par. Mallary Johnson shot a 187 over the two rounds to finish 43 over par, which was good enough for 39th place.

Adalyn Long scored a 46 over par to tie for 41st place and Maci Williams finished with a score of 195 (+51) to tie for 50th place.

Eden Lohrbach finished with a score of 1 under par as she led Gilbert to the Class 3A team title.

Pleasant Valley grabbed the team title by almost 20 strokes for Class 4A as Morgan Rupp of Linn-Mar walked away with the individual crown after shooting a 140 (-2) over the course of the two days.
