Saturday night at the Henry County fair had a packed crowd despite the heat. The fares demolition Derby continued the tradition of bringing the biggest crowd for the evening entertainment with an $8000 guaranteed purse up for grabs. The competitors showed up as well.Something new this year, a raffle car was built for the midsize stock class donated by Ricks Auto Sale in Lowell. Half of the earnings were donated to benefit 4H, and the other half was added to the overall purse. The winner and impromptu driver of the night was Keegan Heaton.
In mowers, Parker Rubey took first, Carson Rubey earned second, and Mike Bliss placed third.
Up next was the van class, with a well-known father son duo, taking home first and second. Deegan Parker earned first, Dakota Parker took home second, and Troy Unternahre placed third.
In midsize stock Brian Lenz placed first, Jaime Ludwig took home second, and Kyle Sexton saw third.
Midsize weld brought Jeremy Greve first, Josh Burgin second, and Jeff Heins third.
Wrapping up the night was the full-size class with Wes Amthauer in first, Justin Woods in second, and Alec Birdsell in third.
A big congratulations to the drivers, a thank you to the promoters, and much recognition to the Henry County Fair Board for bringing back this fan favorite event.
