High School Girls’ Tennis

Fairfield prepares to host the Class 1A Region 6 Individual tournament today with Mt. Pleasant making the trip. Panther head coach Martha Peterson believes her team can ride a wave of momentum through today’s postseason meet,

“I mean, we’re playing the tennis that you want to be playing when you head off to Regionals. I’ve actually been taking a little look at our region over the last couple of days and Fairfield’s obviously going to be a tough team and Knoxville is also a part of our region. They, I believe, have only dropped a few matches all season. So outside of those two, I think we can really compete with everybody else in our region and it all just comes down to sort of luck of the draw. We will see who we draw if we draw a tough opponent like Fairfield, obviously that’ll be a tough draw in the first round, but we could make it into the second or third round depending on where we fall in those brackets. So it’ll be a fun day.”
