The city of Brighton issued a drinking water advisory on Friday, February 27th advising residents to boil water. The Brighton Municipal Water Supply had a problem with the distribution system, and the system lost pressure on Friday. Due to the potential for bacterial contamination, the boil water advisory has been issued. The system has since been repaired, repressurized, and bacteria samples have been collected. According to a press release issued by the city, residents will be notified when the results of the samples are available.
Until further notice, all water should be boiled and cooled before consumption. The usage of bottled water is also recommended. Boiled or bottled water should also be used for things such as brushing teeth, doing dishes, or cooking. A timeline has not been provided as to when the Drinking Water Advisory will be lifted.
