Shoplifting Arrest in Washington

Washington Police arrested a Columbus Junction woman Tuesday afternoon in connection with a shoplifting investigation at Walmart.

According to the Washington County Communications call log, officers responded to the Walmart at 1003 West Madison Street shortly before 2:30 p.m. on a report related to an earlier incident. Alexis Fay Sheppard, 30, of Columbus Junction, was arrested and charged with Third Degree Theft.

Later in the day, while Sheppard was being held at the Washington County Jail, officers also served her with a Washington County warrant charging her with Third Degree Burglary. The warrant carries a $5,000 cash-only bond.

As always, criminal charges are merely accusations, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
