Mount Pleasant Police are investigating a reported domestic assault that occurred Wednesday evening.
Officers were called around 5:45 p.m. on April 15th to take a report of an incident that had taken place earlier at a residence on North Porter Street. According to police, the victim had gone to the property, which he owns, to perform yard work.
While inside the home, the victim was reportedly confronted by Lyn Orwig-Skaggs who had been released from the Henry County Jail earlier that same day. Police say the victim was unaware she was at the residence.
Authorities report the situation escalated when Orwig-Skaggs began yelling, and the altercation became physical. The victim told officers Orwig-Skaggs grabbed his right arm, leaving visible scratches and redness around the elbow. Police say Orwig-Skaggs admitted to making contact with the victim during the incident.
According to the report, the two individuals had been in a long-term relationship and were married at the time. Officers also confirmed there is an active no-contact order in place between the two, issued in March of this year.
Police say the suspect has a prior conviction for domestic abuse assault in Henry County.
