High School Softball

New London fell to West Burlington/Notre Dame last night, 8-0. Madelyn Thomas and Makayla Dueringer each collected two RBIs for the Falcons.

New London will participate in the West Branch Tournament today along with Columbus. 

West Burlington/Notre Dame will compete on the road on Monday, June 15th, against Louisa-Muscatine at 7 pm. 

WACO lost to Danville last night, 15-0. The Warriors will tangle with Highland on Tuesday, June 16th, at 7 pm at home.

Fairfield hosted a tournament yesterday with Van Buren County and Mediapolis also competing in it, and the hosts picked up an 8-3 victory over Chariton. Ireland Cranston crushed two home runs for five RBIs in the win.

Mediapolis dropped their contest to Van Buren County, losing 7-4. Avery Bandy tabbed two RBIs for the Bullettes. 

The Fairfield tournament will continue today. 

Washington split their matchups at the Jesup tournament yesterday, beating Wapsie Valley 8-7 in the first round but losing to Crestwood in the quarterfinals 10-7. The Demons will compete in the consolation bracket today against Dike-New Hartford. 

Wapello was unable to pull off the upset against Highland last night, losing 13-1. Macey Kuntz had the lone RBI in the loss. The Arrows will face off against Van Buren County on Monday at 5 pm at home. 

Holy Trinity Catholic will compete against Danville today at noon.

Mt. Pleasant will host Fort Madison for a doubleheader on Monday with game one at 5:30 pm. KILJ 105.5 FM, kilj.com, will be on the call with the pregame show at 5:15 pm.

High School Baseball

Burlington Notre Dame defeated Central Lee last night, 6-1. Gage VanAusdall tagged the lone RBI for the Hawks.

Burlington Notre Dame will compete in the Lancer Invitational today. 

Central Lee will make the trip to Hillcrest Academy today for an invitational. 

Danville fell to Pekin last night, 15-0. Nolan Glick struck out 10 in four innings of no-hit ball for the Panthers. The Bears will attempt to pick up their first win on the road on Monday at 5 pm against Lone Tree. 

Winfield-Mt. Union clobbered Lone Tree last night, 14-0. Trevor Phillips threw a five inning no-hitter for the Wolves, as he tabbed 13 strikeouts and two RBIs at the plate. The Wolves will host Mediapolis on Monday at 7 pm. 

Fairfield blanked Keokuk last night, 15-0. The Trojans had six players finish with an RBI, as Jaxon Coleman led the team with a home run and four RBIs. Fairfield will take on Burlington at home in a doubleheader with game one at 5:30 pm. 

Washington lost to West Branch last night, 8-4. The Demons will travel to Keokuk on Monday for a doubleheader with game one at 5:30 pm. 

New London will head to Burlington for a triangular today.

Mt. Pleasant will host Fort Madison on Monday with game one of the doubleheader at 5:30 pm.

High School Postseason Soccer

The 2026 girls’ state tournament championship games have been set with Class 1A leading off the day at 9 am with #1 Denver taking on #3 Hudson, Class 2A will pit #4 North Scott against #7 North Polk at 11 am, and Class 3A will feature #1 Waukee Northwest tangling with #2 Valley at 1 pm.

Mt. Pleasant Cross Country

Summer runs will be starting up again on Monday, June 15th, for the Mt. Pleasant Cross Country team. These runs are optional but a great way to run with others and get in shape for the fall season. The runs are available to anyone entering 7th through 12th grades. Coaches may not be present at every run, as they are often led by upperclassmen.

On Mondays, the runs will take place at 6:30 am at the Old Threshers Museum Theatre. Wednesdays will be high school speed day at 7 am at Mapleleaf and Tuesdays and Thursdays will take place at Saunders Park by the swimming pool at 7 pm. 

The runs will continue through the middle of August until the Mt. Pleasant Cross County camp. If you have any questions, you can contact Coach Lyle Murray at 319-850-0867. 

Local Summer Athletic Camps

Mt. Pleasant girls’ basketball is offering up a camp for any girls’ basketball players entering 3rd through 12th grades from June 23rd through the 25th located at the Mt. Pleasant High School Gym. The camp will focus on the fundamentals and introduce team concepts employed by the high school’s system.

The Southeastern Blackhawks Youth MVP Baseball Camp has opened up for registration. The camp is open for youths ages 7 to 12, running June 15th through the 17th from 9 am to noon. The camp will take place at Wagner Athletic Complex on the West Burlington Campus and will cost $150 for the full three day camp. Prospect League

The Burlington Bees had their game against the Danville Dans postponed last night. The Bees will play the Dans tonight as part of a doubleheader with game one at 5:30 pm on the road. 

The Clinton LumberKings demolished the Thrillville Thrillbillies last night, 20-2. Gavin Awbrey clouted a home run for a team high five RBIs in the winning effort. The LumberKings will stay on the road to take on the O’Fallon Hoots at 6:35 pm tonight.
