Eric Wayne Saunders, 54, of New London, Iowa, passed away at 12:13 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
He was born on November 22, 1971 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Fort Madison, Iowa, the son of Jack and Cheryl (May) Saunders. He married Julie Wilson, they later divorced.
Survivors include his mother Cheryl Brookhiser of New London, Iowa; and son Dylan Saunders of New London, Iowa. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Jack and brother Gary.
Eric attended Harmony High School and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing guitar, grilling, drawing, fish fry’s, and mudding with his old truck.
His body has been entrusted to the crematory of Schmitz Funeral Home for cremation.
A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Bonaparte Cemetery in Bonaparte, Iowa.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
