Mount Pleasant Native Rings Opening Bell at New York Stock Exchange

A Mount Pleasant native is celebrating a major milestone as his company officially entered the public stock market.

Dr. David Savage rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange Friday morning to mark the public launch of his company, Scribe Therapeutics.

Scribe Therapeutics is a biotechnology company focused on developing new treatments using CRISPR technology, a tool that allows scientists to make precise changes to DNA. The company is working on therapies designed to help prevent disease and create longer, healthier lives, with a focus on conditions like heart disease and metabolic disorders.

The company began trading on the Nasdaq under the symbol SCTX.

Savage, who grew up in Mount Pleasant, has built a career in biotechnology and research, and the bell-ringing ceremony in New York marked a significant achievement for both him and Scribe Therapeutics as the company moves into this next phase of growth.
