Danny L. “Boone” Welcher, 78, of Mount Pleasant passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, at his home.
Boone was born on November 23, 1947, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Eugene L. and Elva Lee (Jones) Welcher. Danny was united in marriage to Shirley M. Ford on December 13, 1969. They celebrated 49 years of marriage before her death on February 15, 2019.
Boone served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a police officer for the City of Mount Pleasant and later was a correctional officer for the Mount Pleasant Corrections Facility. Boone loved telling stories, fishing, hunting and watching TV but most of all spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Those thankful for sharing in his life include his children, Jennifer Welcher of Mount Pleasant and Rob (Jodi) Welcher of Burlington, his three grandchildren, Cody Welcher, Gillian (Kris) Wilson and Abbigail Anderson, his four great grandchildren, and his brother, Terry “Herman” Welcher of Lowell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley, two brothers, Tommy L. “Doc” Welcher and David Welcher.
According to his wishes cremation has been entrusted to the care of Murphy Funeral Home of Mount Pleasant. No services are planned at this time.
