At approximately 12:43PM on Wednesday afternoon August 18, 2021 the Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a semi pulling a livestock trailer had tipped over onto its side while attempting to pull into a private farm drive located at 1573 Gabriel Avenue, Wayland, Iowa. The driver of the semi was identified as William R. Peden age (54) Tuscumbia, Missouri. Peden lost control of his 2016 Freightliner while attempting to making a right-hand turn onto a private drive where his from left steer tire dropped off of the edge of the roadway. Peden drove for a short distance in a westerly direction before the semi rolled onto its side. Peden was in the process of delivering over 700 small pigs to a farmstead. The Wayland Fire Department was dispatched to the scene to assist in extricating the pigs from the livestock trailer. Peden was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle
