Fairfield School District residents are being asked to vote on a 34 million dollar general obligation bond referendum. Fairfield is one of several districts that have placed propositions on ballots to be voted on Tuesday September 14. The voting site at the Jefferson County Courthouse will be open from 7 am to 8 pm on Tuesday. This bond will be used to fund a new facility for 4th-8th graders, as well as funding updates at the existing middle school site and for HVAC renovations at the High School. The school will be aligned so that 4th and 5th graders occupy one ‘neighborhood’, and 6th-8th graders occupy another. This will allow students to be placed in developmentally appropriate grade groupings. All classrooms will be designed to support 21st century educational practices. The facility will also include a new competition gym, commons area, and media center, among other spaces. Additionally, the bond will be used to pay for improved site circulation to accommodate the new building, as well as the relocation of the tennis courts. The estimated tax rate is $13.33. This the same as the 2020 rate. Detailed information and a tax impact calculator for residential and agricultural properties is available on the Fairfield Future .org website.
