Ardis Ogilvie

Ardis Ogilvie, 86, of Mount Pleasant, died Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at New London Specialty Care.

Ardis was born February 21, 1936, in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, the daughter of Henry and Amy (Bonderson) Jacobson. She graduated from high school in Taylors Falls, Minnesota, and earned a degree in nursing from Bethesda School of Nursing. On May 24, 1958, Ardis was united in marriage to Guy Ogilvie in Taylors Falls, Minnesota. The couple moved to Mount Pleasant in 1974. Ardis worked as a nurse in several hospitals prior to moving to Mount Pleasant, and in nursing homes in the Mount Pleasant area where she was Director of Nursing: Pleasant Manor, Maple Leaf Manor and Parkview Home in Wayland.  She also worked as a receptionist for Dr. John Hart, where she finally retired at the age of 80. Ardis was a devoted member of the Faith Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and served on many committees. You would rarely find Ardis sitting at home, she loved to get out of the house and travel. She enjoyed putting together puzzles, going for walks, reading, and attending her grandchildren’s activities. Ardis never knew a stranger and loved spending time with people, especially her Hy-Vee coffee group she attended with Guy.

Ardis is survived by her husband Guy; four children, Terri (Dale) Schinstock of Urbandale, Tracy (Cal) Bloebaum of Mount Pleasant, Jeffrey Ogilvie of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Thomas (Rebecca) Ogilvie of Iowa City; nine grandchildren and a great grandchild on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Audrey Johnson, and two brothers in infancy, Curtis and Henry.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2022, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Mount Pleasant. Pastor Mike Scudder will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The funeral service will be livestreamed on Powell Funeral Homes Facebook page and at www.powellfuneralhomes.com. Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 5:00 pm, Sunday, March 20, 2022, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.
