Mary “Jane” Hargrove

Mary “Jane” Hargrove, 88 of Milton passed away at 10:06 AM Tuesday March 15, 2022 at her home in Milton.  Visitation will be from 10-11AM Monday March 21, 2022 prior to services at the funeral Home.  Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Monday March 21, 2022 at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua with Kevin Mote officiating.  Burial will be immediately following the service in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.  Memorials to the Milton Library or Grace Activity Center in Milton may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 17089 Hwy NN, Kahoka, MO 63445.  Friend may leave online condolences at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com

Jane was born on September 12, 1933 in Centerville to John E. and Wilma Suckow Fixmer.  She attended school in Pulaski and worked in her mother’s café when she was a child living in Bloomfield.  She met James W. Hargrove while living in Pulaski and they were married on July 1, 1950 in Bloomfield.  Jane then became a homemaker when they started having children. The family moved to Milton in 1957 and  in 1972 the couple purchased the grocery store and named it Hargrove Grocery and Electric.  The couple ran the store for 24 years until their retirement.  Jane never stopped being active in all of the things going on in and around Milton, she served two terms on the city council and volunteered at the Milton Library.  She was a member of the former Milton United Methodist Women’s group and the Milton United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, James Hargrove of Milton and Andy Hargrove (Mia) of Kahoka, MO, three daughters, Joyce Egli of Longview, TX, Linda Gittens of Bloomfield and Sue Sedore (Bill) of Milton, 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law, George Hargrove of Pennsylvania, a sister-in-law, Thelma Spilman of Moravia, many nieces and nephews and many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James, a daughter, Lillian, a son William, a son-in-law, Chuck Egli, a sister, Ruthie Freeman, a brother, Carl Spilman, a great-grandson Paul Luallin, a great-granddaughter, Kyleen Williams, a great-great granddaughter, Karlee Norman and a grandson-in-law, Randy Small
