In the interest of keeping Henry County residents informed, the Henry County Sheriff’s office has requested KILJ post the daily jail count. During the jail referendum campaign it was publicized that the jail would be able to house additional inmates from surrounding counties and this would generate revenue for Henry County.

Emily Williamson
Emily Williamson, 36, of Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, April 24, 2022, after battling an autoimmune disorder for several months at the University of Iowa Hospital, in Iowa City.
Emily was born November 5, 1985, in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of Lawrence and Christine (Smith) Mihalevich. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 2004. She continued her education at Black Hawk Community College, receiving a degree in interior design, and later a degree in entrepreneurial business in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Emily was united in marriage to Aaron Williamson on May 29, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant. The couple lived in the Minneapolis area for seven years before returning to Mount Pleasant to raise their daughters. She was a homemaker and had her own baking business, usually making wedding cakes or cupcakes by the hundreds. Emily was known for her wonderful baking and beautifully made crafts and quilts. She enjoyed reading, listening to music and playing the piano. However, more than anything, Emily loved being Maggie and Chloe’s mom. Emily was a genuinely kind person who positively impacted everyone she met. Her legacy will live on through her daughters.
Emily is survived by her husband Aaron, daughters Maggie Rose and Chloe Emma; parents Larry and Chris Mihalevich of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; sister Jamie (Ryan) Leichty of Kohler, Wisconsin; brother Nick (Gen Johnsen) Mihalevich of Minneapolis, Minnesota; grandfather Bill Smith of Mount Pleasant; parents in-law Rick and Jan Williamson of Mount Pleasant; sister-in-law Kristen (Daniel) Faubus of Fort Worth, Texas; and six nieces and nephews Carter, Avery and Beckett Leichty, Julia, Cora and Samuel Faubus.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and maternal grandmother.
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established for the Brian Injury Alliance of Iowa and a scholarship fund for her daughters. The Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel is caring for Emily and her family.
Keokuk Bank Robbery
At about 9:40 Tuesday morning, a person went into Two Rivers Bank at 115 Boulevard Road in Keokuk and demanded money. The person then walked away from the bank.

James “Jim” Frary
James “Jim” Frary, 64, passed away Monday, April 25, 2022, surrounded by his family at his rural Salem home.
Jim was born August 22, 1957, the son of Bob and Esther (Waldmeier) Frary of Salem, Iowa. He was the sixth child born to the family. Jim grew up helping on the family farm that has been in the Frary family since 1865, when his great great grandfather Thomas Edgar Frary bought the original 160 acres. It has been recognized as a Century Farm and has been owned by Jim since his father Bob’s passing in 2007. Jim was a self-employed farmer and also worked for Jerry Francy. On May 11, 1985, Jim married Ruth Wilson in Mount Pleasant. To this union, their son James “JJ” Edgar Frary, Jr. was born. The couple later divorced. Jim was a member of Pheasants Forever, Iowa Cattlemen’s Association, and the Salem Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the Chicago Cubs and NASCAR racing. Jim especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Madden, Hynlee, and McCoy.
Jim is survived by his son JJ (Nikki) Frary of Fort Madison; three grandchildren, Madden, Hynlee, and McCoy; two brothers, John (Lisa) Frary of Magnolia, Texas, Tom (Cindy) Frary of Mount Pleasant; sister Sara (Mike) Miller of Brownwood, Texas; brother-in-law Jim Harshbarger of Salem; sister-in-law Sue Frary of Mount Pleasant and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a great great niece.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister Martha Harshbarger, and a brother Neal Frary.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 29, 2022, from 12:00-7:00 pm, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, with family greeting friends from 4:00-7:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will begin at 4:00 pm, Saturday, April 30, 2022, at The Underground in Salem. Burial will be at a later date in the Salem East Cemetery. Linda L. Tomson, 55, of Salem passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Linda’s family will host a private family celebration of her life. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant. Charlotte M. Garmoe, 90, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Savannah Heights in Mt. Pleasant.
