Emily Williamson, 36, of Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, April 24, 2022, after battling an autoimmune disorder for several months at the University of Iowa Hospital, in Iowa City.
Emily was born November 5, 1985, in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of Lawrence and Christine (Smith) Mihalevich. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 2004. She continued her education at Black Hawk Community College, receiving a degree in interior design, and later a degree in entrepreneurial business in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Emily was united in marriage to Aaron Williamson on May 29, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant. The couple lived in the Minneapolis area for seven years before returning to Mount Pleasant to raise their daughters. She was a homemaker and had her own baking business, usually making wedding cakes or cupcakes by the hundreds. Emily was known for her wonderful baking and beautifully made crafts and quilts. She enjoyed reading, listening to music and playing the piano. However, more than anything, Emily loved being Maggie and Chloe’s mom. Emily was a genuinely kind person who positively impacted everyone she met. Her legacy will live on through her daughters.
Emily is survived by her husband Aaron, daughters Maggie Rose and Chloe Emma; parents Larry and Chris Mihalevich of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; sister Jamie (Ryan) Leichty of Kohler, Wisconsin; brother Nick (Gen Johnsen) Mihalevich of Minneapolis, Minnesota; grandfather Bill Smith of Mount Pleasant; parents in-law Rick and Jan Williamson of Mount Pleasant; sister-in-law Kristen (Daniel) Faubus of Fort Worth, Texas; and six nieces and nephews Carter, Avery and Beckett Leichty, Julia, Cora and Samuel Faubus.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and maternal grandmother.
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established for the Brian Injury Alliance of Iowa and a scholarship fund for her daughters. The Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel is caring for Emily and her family.
