Burlington Man Arrested After Shooting

On August 11th Officers from the Burlington Police Department responded to 2727 Monarch Drive regarding a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers detained 48-year-old David Carpenter in the front yard of the residence. Officers further located an adult male inside the residence with a single gunshot wound to the face. The victim was transported to the Southeast Iowa Reginal Medical Center for what appears to be a non-life threatening injury. David Carpenter was later placed under arrest and charged with attempted murder and child endangerment.

This shooting appears to be isolated to the above address and there is no additional threat to the public. The facts and circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation by the Burlington Police Department’s Criminal Investigation.
