Care Center Responds to Allegations Made in Recent News Report

KILJ News has reached out to the administration of Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant regarding a recent story by Iowa Capital Dispatch that was picked up by regional media. The story claimed, among other things, that a resident at the Mount Pleasant care facility bled to death.

Facility Administrator Kerri Menke Friday issued a written statement in response to the allegations in the story.  The statement reads……

“Arbor Court takes patient privacy very seriously and it would be inconsiderate to our patients’ families to discuss in detail in any allegations. We can say that there are many false accusations which we are actively working to correct.  As the original article itself says, the patient’s primary care provider of many years….’had successfully prescribed the two drugs for the (patient) many times and that…a drug interaction (did not cause) her death.’ In addition, it is being reported incorrectly and irresponsibly that the resident passed away at the facility.  This is false.  We followed and will continue to follow all doctors’ orders and have specific systems in place to protect our residents.  Our most import job is to keep our resident safe and to provide the very best care they deserve.”

Arbor Court is owned by Midwest Geriatric Management Healthcare of St. Louis and was purchased by MGM Healthcare in October of 2020.
