College Football: Central Advances, UNI Falls

Central quarterback Blaine Hawkins completed 41-of-65 passes for 434 yards and four touchdowns as Central rallied late to defeat Wheaton on Saturday, in the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs.

Hawkins hooked up with Tanner Schminke with no time on the clock to vault Central to the third round, where they will meet with UW-Whitewater.

Schminke hauled in 13 passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns.

Eastern Washington 19, UNI 9 

Eastern Washington led 9-7 at half and never looked back, as the Eagles dispatched UNI 19-9 in Saturday’s opening round of the FCS Playoffs.

Theo Day finished 12-of-22 for 189 yards and one score, while Bradrick Shaw led the ground game with 51 yards on 14 handles.

UNI closes their season at 6-6.

Eastern Washington will get a date with Montana this Friday.
